Casa-forte “Grand Betum” di Servino!
The fortified house "Grand Betum" of Servino was built on a large rock mass between the 11th and 12th centuries. The "Grand Betum" was the heart of an agricultural-pastoral estate in the high valleys of Canavese. Its elevated position guaranteed visibility and protection, making it a strategic point for controlling the territory. The herringbone walls, the trilithic portals with stone frames and the monolithic brackets for the eaves bear witness to a refined and functional architecture. The internal floors, which were initially not connected, were covered by wooden floors of remarkable artistry featuring embedded beams protected by stone slabs. Stables, sheepfolds and a rascard evolved around the tower over the centuries.
