Percorso Artistico Genius Loci

Genius Loci is an artistic project that uses sculpture to enhance the territory of the Soana Valley.

It is part of the project "Re-Cuivre.

New creativity of copper in the Soana Valley", an initiative funded by the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation with the "Territories IN LIGHT" grant.

The project was started in 2023 by the Municipality of Ronco Canavese.

The aim of Genius Loci is to make the Soana Valley more interesting and bring copper back to the center of the community.

Artist Massimo Ferrando and architect Alessandra Giacardi worked on an artistic residency.

During this period, they studied the local culture and created a path that connects the medieval village of Ronco to the historic forge of the town.

The works created celebrate the traditions and identity of the valley: they highlight the connection between copper and rock, or between the metal and the mineral from which it comes.

The path includes 11 copper sculptures.

To visit Genius Loci, you must follow a path that crosses the village and its surroundings.

The works are located in important places in Ronco, such as the church and some stone walls.

The visit then continues into the forest after the Bridge of the Lovers.

Each work is designed for the place where it is located.

The artist has created simple yet meaningful installations that speak to the community and interact with its cultural heritage.

Travel times: 20 minutes to visit the works in the village, 55 minutes at a slow pace for the entire route.
